Review from Jessica @ Goodreads

from Jessica @ Goodreads

It is 2125. Vampires have taken over the world. Most humans live between 6 am and 6 pm. Those that don’t are eaten. Mark and Aura are two people that are trying to survive but also kill as many vampires that they can. They have been together for a couple years and have become a good team. But there is something about Aura. She can sense the vampires, knows different tricks to keep them safe, and although she is petite, she packs one heck of a kick.

There are also a couple humans in the Underground that are working to defeat the vampires. Aura discovered them and visits them regularly. She tends to get sick and they provide the medicine she needs. They also have a vampire repellant that Aura and Mark use every night to keep the vampires from breaching the doors and windows of their home.

One night while Mark and Aura are out, they come across a vampire that has been hunting Aura for several years. Although they escape, they keep running into him. At one point several vampires attack them and Aura is taken. Now it is up to Mark to save her.

I really liked this book. It is actually a collection of the first three novellas in the series. I loved the concept. Here are these two people that are trying to survive and kill the vampires any way that they can.

I will admit that there are a couple things that kind of bothered me. Mark is rather whiney. When Aura is kidnapped he started acting like an emo brat. I do like a guy in the story really loving a woman and willing to fight for her. But I’m more into the strong guys, not the ones that become obsessed stalker types.

Having said that, I really did enjoy the stories. I will be getting the next books as soon as they come out. This is a story that I think most paranormal romance readers will like.

I really enjoyed reading this short story series. If your looking for traditional vampires (Not all cute and lovey dovey), lots of action, and not your average damsel in distress. These books are for you. It’s exactly what I needed to give me a Vamp fix.

The storyline to these books were not only really interesting, I didn’t guess the twists until they happened, sure I had my suspicions, but it kept me guessing. It was really descriptive, I did have a little trouble picturing the surroundings (it may just have been me) but the characters were described in a lot of detail which made it easy to loose yourself in the story.

I rate this series 4.5 stars.
